The multilateral Comenius II project titled CORE-Clil Objectives and Resoursekit in Education completed its goals with a training course for teachers and an international conference in Palma de Mallorca in the period from 16 October 2014 to 23 October 2014. Educators, researchers and administration staff from Educational Organisations of five European countries (Norway, Spain+Balearic Islands, Italy + Italy, Greece, Lithuania) put in a lot of work and enthusiasm to design and develop a very interesting and beneficial learning experience for teachers from different countries of Europe who were fortunate enough to see their schools application for Erasmus+KA1 action grand to be approved.
16th October, Thursday evening, at around 20:00. Bellver Hotel in Palma de Mallorca.
Teachers of different ages and teaching experience, teacher trainers, headteachers gather at the restaurant. They speak different languages, Spanish, Katalan, Greek, Norwegean, English, Italian, Ladin, French, Dutch. They switch from one language to another in their attempt to introduce themselves to one another. They are all there eager to learn, to discover, to improve, to justify, to share. Smiling faces, open minds, warm hearts.
17th -18th October 2014. Bellver Hotel Conference Hall.
The first day starts with an introduction and orientation to the CORE Project and a review of the participants’ reflections on their own practices. Questions and expectations of the participants get posted on the wall as a challenge for those in charge of the learning event. Then people mingle around the national corners arranged in the market place and taste delicacies from their fellow trainees’ countries, flip through magazines and maps and ask questions. They are all triggered to come closer to one another, to learn what life is like in the countries other than theirs, how being a teacher is different from country to country.
14:45 Conference Opening.
Isabel Cerda Moragues, General Director of the Regulation, Innovation and Vocational Training Directorate of the Ballearic Islands opens the conference and welcomes the partipants and Stephen Molloy, Visiting Research Fellow (University of Leeds) presents the audience with an overview of the sociolinguistic contexts in the five European countries that are involved in the CORE project aiming at introducing people at the focal CLIL related questions, that is the CORE of CLIL. Everyone appreciated the interesting, well-reserched talks by experts in the field of CLIL like Victor Pavon, University of Cordoba, Yolanda Ruiz de Zarobe, University of the Basque Country (Spain), Javier Avila, University of Gordoba (Spain), Sandra Lucietto, (Italy), pedagogues like Lisbeth Brevik, Uiversity of Oslo (Norway), Oliver Meyer, Gutenberg University (Mainz, Germany) and experiences CLIL teachers in the CLIL method like Isabel Garcia and Pep Piza who shared their good practices in the implementation of CLIL.

Time for collective conclusions and discussion. The conference comes to its end but people linger, keep talking in small groups.
Sunday 19th
Lovely day! A visit to Valdemossa and then to the port of Soller. The friendly Mallorcan people and the lovely summerlike weather maximised the positive feelings of the participants. The wonderful traditional meal by the sea, the picturesque view, the sandy beach, the crystal clear water takes us away from it all. This is a really nice break from our hectic lifes.
Monday 20th-Wednesday 22nd
Three days of work. All participants get involved in CLIL lesson planning, applying methodological, pedagogical and collaborative strategies, observing and analysing filmed CLIL classes with the guidance of Victor Pavon and Sandra Lucietto. Lilianna Armort and myself, we share our CLIL experiences as applied in our local contexts. Britt-Mona guides trainees to Assessment for Learning (AfL) and finally all participants are ready to produce their own CLIL materials. Visits to Schools of Palma both primary and secondary ones where trainees observe CLIL in action lead to discussions and exchange of opinions.
Thursday 23rd, travel day
Time to leave Palma. Everyone is sad but full. We have learnt. We have become friends. It is as if we had known one another for long. Between the end of the sessions and dinner we had rushed to see as much of the town we could. Beautiful city, nice people. And at dinner long informal discussions all turning around education and its future.
Teachers all around Europe are really concerned. Teachers all around Europe are faced with the same challenges and have to overcome the same difficulties. It is such a reviving relief to meet and support each other every now and then!
