eTwinning project 2021-22

Our eTwinning programme for the year 2021-22 ‘Imaginary Creatures in … shadows’ was completed with the 6th grade students of the Primary School of N.Potidaia.

The students worked enthusiastically and creatively and collaborated perfectly with students from other schools (Greece, Europe (Italy, Malta), but also Turkey) and met the requirements of the eTwinning project designed and set up by Mrs Mary.
Humans have always been interested in imaginary creatures with supernatural powers. Section 3 of the English textbook is dedicated to imaginary heroes and mythical entities (Imaginary Creatures). On the occasion of this section, the students followed an educational path that led to a shadow theater performance, which they shared with the project partners and the children of our school.
Throughout the  programme the students:
a) got to know the cultural heritage of the project partners regarding the mythical figures of these countries
b) improved the production of written and spoken English
c) participated in creative writing activities – writing dialogues and stories for shadow theater – utilizing the vocabulary taught in Section 3 of the English Book
d) developed creativity and cooperation between groups of their own class, but also in transnational working groups
e) were involved in the creation of a collaborative theatrical work (shadow theater), making the figures and the dialogues on their own and playing the play for the pleasure of their classmates.

The route included many interesting stops:
1. First we learned about the rules of good behavior on the internet (Netiquette):

2. We introduced ourselves to the other friends after creating and using a digital version of ourselves and our class (avatar):

5. We made our own unique logo of the program and voted for what will represent our program (voted the logo of student Amella Canellari to represent the program!):

6. Each student chose a mythical creature from ancient Greece and after searching the internet drew, described (emphasizing both their external and internal characteristics) in English and gave voice to his mythical creature. All presentations were included in a digital book:

We also studied the work of our partners and had fun playing a game we all made together:

We also made a nice souvenir with our partners: a calendar of the year 2022-23 to remember the program:

7. The last part of the project included the creation of a puppet show and shadow figures. The heroes described in the previous step became shadow puppet figures and heroes in a screenplay co-written by the students. With a lot of humour, effort and rehearsals, our project was ready!

Our journey was long, but we certainly enjoyed it!!!

This journey also granted us an eTwinning Quality Label!
We are very proud of what we’ve achieved!
