Climate change
The Greek Climate Detectives are exploring a multidimensional topic with a great number of aspects.
Climate change has become a real threat to our planet and we can see that its effects are already visible all over the world such as the melting of the glaciers, the rise of the oceans and the global warming.
Their research can provide them with the knowledge to understand the many facets of this issue and can drive the necessary changes in their way of life in to protect the planet. Looking forward to the findings of the work of the Greek Climate Detectives.

Θερμοδυναμική στην πράξη
Μετεωρολογικός σταθμός Ζαχάρως
α) Ενώ αφιερώνεται σχεδόν η μισή ύλη της Φυσικής Θετικής Κατεύθυνσης Β’ Λυκείου στη Θερμοδυναμική, δεν προχωράμε στην ουσιαστική πρακτική εφαρμογή των διδασκομένων θεμάτων. Θεωρώντας απαράδεκτο αυτό το γεγονός, προτείνουμε να αφιερωθούν επίσημα 3 διδακτικές ώρες σε βασικά μετεωρολογικά θέματα.
β) Να καταστρωθούν κατάλληλα δομημένα πειράματα για επαλήθευση στην ατμόσφαιρα της αδιαβατικής μεταβολής και της καταστατικής εξίσωσης, με τη χρήση μετεωρολογικών δεδομένων.

Why does it rain? Can we predict it? Give physics students a mass of weather data and some IT, and they can try working this out for themselves.

- Thermodynamics is taught in high-school physics –
- but how many students make the connection with our everyday weather, even though both are governed by the same variables (temperature, pressure and so on)?
- We decided to try to make this connection clear to students by asking them to explore for themselves how such variables affect each other in the environment, using real scientific data.
By the end, the students were impressed by the logical way in which these natural phenomena are related – and got a thrill from working with a top scientific institution the National Observatory of Athens.
