“The Visit”

 My digital story is based on an original short story entitled “The Visit” and it’s a “ghost romance” -as I like to call it myself- about a haunting love which survives war and death. It revolves around the main themes of love outlasting death, war and its impact on human lives and, finally, music as a bridge to the metaphysical or as a connection between the living and the dead. As you can see, the aforementioned are in a way “adult themes”, which more or less makes my digital story cut out for teenage audiences.

The basic tool I used to digitalize my short story is Windows Movie Maker, a multimedia tool which I have never used before and which I wanted to become familiarized with, especially because it bears the reputation of a user-friendly application and, admittedly, it lived up to its reputation.

The only challenge I faced had to do with the soundtrack which is crucial to my story, because Windows Movie Maker doesn’t seem to offer much in this respect. So I resorted toAudacity in order to edit, mix and import my voice, the music and the sound effects, which added an extra level of difficulty. With a little “expert” help from my beloved friend Damianos Damianidis, who supplied me with the recording equipment as well, I’m inclined to believe I managed to overcome this challenge.
