Christmas in Australia
In Australia, Christmas is celebrated during the summer!!! People welcome Santa Claus wearing T-shirts and swimsuits.
Families decorate their homes with colourful ornaments. They also use ferns, evergreens and flowers.
The most popular event of the season is called Carols by Candlelight. In the evening, everybody gets out on the street, lights a candle and sings Christmas carols.
CHRISTMAS IN THE UK
Celebrating Christmas
- British families celebrate Christmas together. They decorate a Christmas tree with colourful ornaments and put holly, ivy and mistletoe around the house.
- On Christmas Eve, they gather around a table full of goodies to enjoy stuffed turkey, eggnog, potatoes, various vegetables and, of course, Christmas pudding.
- British villages, towns and cities also look their best this time of year. They are decorated with bright Christmas lights which are usually switched on by a famous person at the beginning of November
