17 December 2024:

On Tuesday, December 17, 2024, as part of our project “European Day of Languages”, a video conference was held with European schools for students to present Christmas customs of their country. The online meeting was hosted by Florentina Deliu (Scoala Gimnaziala Urzica, Romania).

The 5th grade students of the TEGEA PRIMARY SCHOOL spoke in English about the customs of their country and sang Byzantine carols, carols of Ikaria and the Peloponnese. Their teachers, Tina Delopoulou (teacher of Greek), Panagioula Karetsou (teacher of Music) and Darlasi Irini (teacher of English) participated in the preparation of the children who are distinguished for their will to pursue and achieve learning goals.

The schools participating in the video conference were Scoala Gimnaziala Urzica from Romania with carols and traditional dances, Agrupamento de Escolas da Mealhada from Portugal with Christmas songs, Szkoła Podstawowa im. bł. ks.Jerzego Popiełuszki w Woli Zgłobieńskiej from Poland with carols, LEPL Chkhorotsku Municipality village Lesichine community N1 Public School from Georgia and Rifat Burdzevic Trso from Serbia. The Serbian school participated with a class of Muslim children who sang winter songs and wished us a Merry Christmas.
We hope that we have successfully conveyed the message of Christmas love to our students.

Our “Christmas” activity comprises the following steps:

An online quiz created by Irini Darlasi for the students and teachers to activate previous knowledge and familiarize us with our partners’ Christmas customs:

The Christmas cards exchange: for this activity  we followed Karolina’s Błażej chart so that we could achieve a transnational cooperation among groups of students. Teachers have sent photos of the received Xmas cards on the Whatsup group, too. These are some of them:

13 November 2024 World Kindness Day: The online meeting, hosted by the coordinator Karolina Błażej took place on the 8th of  November. The partners who joined the video conference are Невенка Раденковић, Rifat Burdzevic Trso (Serbia), Luis Santos, EB1/Pe da Achada (Portugal, Madeira), Karolina Błażej, Szkoła Podstawowa im. bł. ks.Jerzego Popiełuszki w Woli Zgłobieńskiej (Poland), Laura GIORDANO, ICS “Elisa Springer” di Surbo (Italy), FATMA SARI, KAYSERİ FEN LİSESİ (Turkey), Irini Darlasi Tegea Primary School (Greece). More members expressed their willingness to join the video conference but it was difficult to arrange a date and hour that suited every partner. We will find a solution till next time. Students appreciate these online events and are eager to join them. We always prepare the theme of the meeting in our classroom, using also the ressources we post on the Ressources Page. We have a common curriculum in this way and we hope to contribute to the development of the tomorrow European citizens. An album of students’ work and participation was created on a canva presentation and posted on the twinspace of the project.

A brainstorm activity before the meeting allowd students to connect previous knowledge with the theme of Well – Being, Resilience and Kindness:

October 11th 2024: As a warm -up activity before the meeting, students prepared videos with their pets and drew their favourite animals so that they could get a picture of their partners’ beliefs and experiences on the topic. Then, they talked online about the rights of the animals loud and clear and even presented their pet “live” during the video call. They had the opportunity to discuss personal experiences with their pets and ask questions to each other.

The members who were able to join the online meeting of the 11th October histed by Tegea Primary School (Greece): Irini Darlasi / Kyriakoula Bouziani / Stamatina Ntelopoulou (Greece), Florentina Deliu (Romania), Amalia Persico (Italy), mai Maharneh (Jordan), Lúcia Ferreira (Portugal), Fatma Sari (Turkey), Karolina Błażej (Poland),

Zuzana Ryniková (Slovakia). There are many teachers who would like to participated in the video call with their students but we were not able to schedule a date and time that could suit everyone. The students appreciated this second meeting and as far as mine are concerned they succeeded in overcoming their shyness on the one hand and on the other hand they created posters and videos with “passion” . I believe they are more confident now as for their abilities in English. They collaborate better and better and the contact with studetns from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds opens their horizon and allows them to fly towards interesting new worlds. I feel the difference…

A living map of Europe

Created on 25.10.2008  AGIORGITIKA PRIMARY SCHOOL

The project is based on covering a map of Europe with postcards sent from European schools.

This video is the result of our eTwinning project with a lot of european schools. We received all this postcards from our partners and made the video to show our project at school and to our partners. As we are a Portuguese school we chose to use the music people say is a part of our culture (fado) sang by a fado singer internationally known and awarded, Marisa. Another detail we want you to pay attention is to the Portuguese guitar that, unlike others, has 12 strings and it’s very difficult to play. We know that teenagers may not like it very much but will learn something about Portuguese culture. That is all this is about: intercultural dialogue! We hope you enjoy it. We loved to participate in this project! 🙂 Anabela Brigida
