About our school

Tegea Primary School is located in the village of Stadio, one of the sixteen villages of the Tegea region. Children from all the villages of Tegea study in it.

It wa built between the years 1936-1940 on a five-acre plot of land donated by the community of the village to the School Board of the Stafium for the purpose of buliding a new school. A stone-built, one-story building with four rooms and two auxiliary office spaces was constructed, at state expense. In 1948, after the Second World War, the construction of the second floor of the school was completed, as well as the entire project of finishing the building at the expense of the sons of Nikolaos Stassinopoulos.

In 1973, central heating was installed in the building, at the initiative of Mrs. Marianthi Stasinopoulos, then President of the Michael N. Stasinopoulos-BIOHALKO Charitable Foundation, who also undertook the expense. From then until today the Board of Directors of the Foundation and the President Mrs. Alexandra Stasinopoulou support the work of the School (construction of a gymnasium in the courtyard area, repair and maintenance works of the buildings in cooperation with the Association of Parents and Guardians, etc.). Also, always in collaboration with the teachers, they support the educational project.

The first Primary School of Achuria (today’s Stadium) was located in the current building A of the Stasinopoulo Cultural Center. In 1840, the residents of the village of Ahouria (today’s Stadium) built a school 20 meters long and 8 meters wide with their personal labor and materials. , on a field granted for this purpose, by Dimitrios Lykourinas. In 1896, the second floor with three classrooms and an office was added to this school.
