Britain is an island in the North Atlantic, off the coast of Western Europe. The island contains the nations of England, Scotland and Wales. The three nations together form a political entity, Great Britain.
Britain (or Great Britain) = England + Scotland + Wales
The United Kingdom = England + Scotland + Wales + Northern Ireland
The official name of the country is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
The inhabitants of the UK are called British – or specifically their country of origin (ie English, Scottish,Welsh or Northern Irish).

UNION JACK : IT’S ACTUALLY THREE FLAGS IN ONE
The flag is actually made up of the three flags of England, Scotland and Ireland which are the crosses of each country’s patron saint.
England: St George’s Cross – Red Cross
Scotland: St Andrew’s Cross – White Saltire
Ireland: St Patrick’s Cross – Red Saltire
Scotland: St Andrew’s Cross – White Saltire
Ireland: St Patrick’s Cross – Red Saltire
WALES IS MISSING
While there are four countries that make up the United Kingdom, only three of them are actually represented on the Union Flag. Why is this? Well, technically, Wales is a principality of England. So, Wales holds its own national flag. It’s a red dragon on a green and white field.
