“Rena Vlahopoulou”
She was born in Corfu in 1923. She studied at The Music School of The Drama Association. In 1938 she fell in love with Kostas Vasiliou. After that, she went to Athens (1939) and started her career as an actress. She played alongside Kalouta Sisters and Sophia Vembo. In 1942 she married John Kostopoulos. She was considered << The Queen of Jazz>>.
In 1952, Bill Bournelis, called Rena to sing with Belinda at the <<Queen of Night>>. In summer of 1954 she took her first theatrical role at the play <<Sousourada>>. In 1956 she acted in the Greek film <<Protevousianikes Peripeteies>> which was the first colour Greek film! In 1962, she performed in <<
Odos Oniron>, a Manos Hatzidakis’ play.
Rena was honoured with the award Dimitri’s Psathas (1995). Some of her most popular films are <<Hartopehtra>>, <<Koritsi gia filima>>, <<Viva Rena>>, <<Vouleftina>>, <<Pariziana>>, <<I Theia mou i Hipissa>> and <<Komissa tis Kerkiras>>.
She died on 29 of July in 2004, but her movies will go down in history.
