English School e-Magazine -1st Primary School of Akrata, Greece
Last Friday was an amazing day because we went to Energy Sports Club. We played football, tennis and volleyball. We also played cards on the grass. At the end of the day, we were a little tired but very happy!
On 27th May we went on a school trip to the Achaia Clauss winery and Ippocamilos park.
First we went to the Achaia Clauss winery, which produces mavrodafni wine. We saw a fantastic garden, old houses, old barrels of mavrodafne wine and a huge vineyard. We visited the Royal Cellar, where there were huge barrels. Some of them were carved and dedicated to kings, princesses and politicians.
After that we visited Ippocamilos Park. It is a park with a small zoo, inflatable slides, a swimming pool and a playground. We played different games, we painted, we played football and some children rode a horse. At the zoo we saw colourful parrots, camels, lama, monkeys, crocodiles, hens, horses and deer.
This school trip was amazing! We hope to visit them again!
Last week our school received fruit from the Ministry of Education again. The fruit were in boxes, one box for each child. The boxes had fruit salad compote, apples, pears and oranges. They also gave us a small cotton bag to put our fruit in it.
Fruit are healthy and they have lots of vitamins and they are good to eat.
How about you?
Do you like fruit?
What’s your favourite fruit?
How many fruit do you eat every day?

Last Tuesday our school and the 2nd Primary School of Akrata went to “Anagennisi Theatre” of our town to watch a theatrical play that was called ”The Little Prince”.
The scenery was amazing, but the music and the costumes weren’t so nice. The play was about a boy who tried to go back to his planet because he fell on Earth. One day a man fell with his aeroplane on the Sahara desert and he met the little prince who talked to him about his life.
The play was a little boring because it was for younger children.
On Wednesbay 20 February 2013 ΑΓΑΦΡΟΝ group came to our school.
They came here to plaint our schoolyard. They brought paints and brushes and wore old clothes.
We drew a lot of games on the ground such us ”snakes and ladders” and hopscotch.
We like the games we made and we play every day.

Two weeks ago we went on a school trip to Athens because a theatre group put on a play and we went to watch it.It’s called ”Peter’s great walk”.
There were a lot of students from other schools. The play was about the life of a young boy during the second war. There were many actors playing the parts of different characters.
The customes were fantastic. The parts were very good! The play was a comedy and the music sounded very nice.During this theatrical play we felt how it was to live at these old times.
We hope that we will watch again an interesting theatrical play in the future.

Hi! We are ST’ class. We are running a project with Poland about our schools and we will compare them.
Our school is in a small town, but their school is in a small village. Both Akrata and Zabor are near cities. These cities are Aigio and Zielona Gora. The Polish school is older because it was built in 1992,wereas our school is younger because it was built in 1997.
Our school hasn’t got as many floors as their school in Zabor. Our school has got one floor, but their school has got two floors. In our school classes A’ and B’ have lessons on the ground floor, wereas in their school classes A’ , B’ and C’ have lessons. In the first floor of our school classes C’, D’ , E’ and ST’ have lessons but in Zabor classes D’ , E’ and ST’ have lessons.
We haven’t got as many classrooms as their school. Also we haven’t got a playroom for the youngest students or educators’ room like them. We have got a bigger playground than theirs with a garden and lots of courts.
Click on the photos to see the presentations of our schools and tell us your opinion about the photos and our article.

Pancake Day began in the 15th century in England. The custom began as follows:
A woman was cooking pancakes when she heard the church bell ringing. To catch the Service she left her house with her apron on, her scarf and the pan with the pancake in her hand! In order not to burn the pancake she tossed it three times until she got to the church.
The custom is one day before Lent. The British fry pancakes because people can’t eat dairy products during Lent.Women usually participate, they wear: an apron, a scarf and hold a pan with the pancake in their hand. The most famous pancake race takes place at Olney.
