Manos Hatzidakis was born in Xanthi, Greece, in 1925.
During the first seven years of his life he lived in Xanthi, but in 1930 he moved to Athens. In 1944, at the age of 19, he wrote music for the first time and he decided that he wanted to become a composer. Between 1966-1972 he lived and worked in New York.
In 1950’s he wrote many songs like: O kir Adonis, Hartino to fegaraki, Min to rotas ton ourano , O mithos, Kemal etc. He also wrote theatrical plays.
He created a record company called Serios. He recorded 110 discs until he died in 1994.
Manos Hatzidakis was an important artist for the greek culture.
