About the project
The project is based on the 21st century Skills (Communication,Collaboration,Creativity,Critical Thinking!” and Aesop’s fable “The Ant and the Cricket!” Searching for information (Internet,encyclopedias, magazines, etc and interviewing, students find the solutions to the problem of food storage and long term food storage through ages depending on the weather conditions in their countries.
Description
The project starts from September 2024 and ends on May 15th 2025.
The work process is divided into 5 parts.
- The fable ( ss study Aesop’s fable the “Ant and the Cricket” they create presentations and present them live online to their eTwinners).
- Recycling and Re-use. Ss create favourite items with recycled material and theynd present them to their eTwinners. They also talk about the importance of Savings and makes posters of the currency of their country.3.FOOD LISTS and Cooking Vocabulary.
Ss create puzzles and board games with the food vocabulary and e-games with the help of their teachers.
4. Visiting museums and searching for information ss find ways of the food storage from the pre-historic ages until today in their country.
5 With the help of their teachers or parents ss try to apply ways of food storage and long term food storage. They add the activities in a common project e-book
PROJECT AIMS:
- To explore and understand the various methods of food preservation, traditional recipes and unique aspects of culinary cultures in different countries, while integrating the principles of entrepreneurship and sustainability. This project aims to foster a greater appreciation for global food practices and promote cultural exchange through the study of diverse culinary traditions.
- Improvement of critical thinking competence through consideration of the problem of food storage and consumption of healthy food in the 21st century.
- Developing students’ creativity through story-making activities based on the Aesop’s fable the “Ant and the Cricket”.
- Improvement of oral English language skills by active communication on online students’ meetings and memorization of common expressions in oral exchange
- Improvement of written language skills (lexical and grammatical) by producing and participating in egames, puzzles, crosswords, quizzes…
- Improvement of ICT skills using different ICT tools during online cooperation with project partners, presentation of project activities, using to e-Twinning platform and by creating the project products. LEARNING OUTCOMES:
Understanding Food Preservation
- Students will be able to identify and explain various methods of food preservation used in different cultures, demonstrating knowledge of traditional recipes and unique culinary practices.
- Cultural Appreciation
- Students will develop an appreciation for global food practices and cultural diversity by analyzing and discussing culinary traditions from various countries, fostering cultural exchange.
Critical Thinking
- Students will enhance their critical thinking skills by evaluating contemporary challenges related to food storage and healthy eating, proposing innovative solutions suitable for the 21st century.
Creativity Development
- Students will express their creativity through story-making activities inspired by Aesop’s fable “The Ant and the Cricket,” demonstrating an understanding of moral lessons and narrative structure.
Oral Language Skills
- Students will improve their oral English skills by actively participating in online meetings, effectively communicating with peers, and memorizing key expressions used in conversation.
Written Language Skills
- Students will enhance their written English skills by creating and engaging in educational games, puzzles, crosswords, and quizzes, focusing on vocabulary and grammar.
ICT Skills
- Students will develop their ICT skills by utilizing various digital tools for collaboration with project partners, presenting their findings, and creating project products through the e-Twinning platform.
