Cultural heritage through e Twinning 

multi-cultural international educational Community.

Shadows and images, colours and sounds, from the past times, all reflections that become bridges to meet present times. Is the essence we keep to testify our roots.

Cultural heritage is the touch of our souls, the things from the past that made us proud, enriched with the power of time. The  persons lived, feel and share their ‘prints” through items, buildings, images, shapes, sounds, creations, wishes, words, traditions, education, all kept and transmitted through the terrestrial  living.

I invited my pupils to explore and present their creations through our collaboration with Teachers and pupils with Schools around the world. The educational projects opened the gate!

During the School year 2017-2018 I had a great cooperation among eTwinning Schools. Thanks to the educational eTwinning project “Magical Christmas” we exchanged images, customs, material, music and messages. We made new friends and we made visible the way that we can share “Cultural Heritage” through education.

Το Σχολικό έτος 2018-2019 με τους μαθητές μου από το 20 δημοτικό Σχολείο Αιγάλεω και από το 1 δημοτικό Σχολέιο Αγίας Βαρβάρας, συνεργαστήκαμε με άλλα Σχολεία της Ελλάδας και του Εξωτερικού, κάναμε χρήση της πλατφόρμας eTwinning και παρουσιάσαμε στα Σχολεία τα αποτελέσματα της προσπάθειάς μας.

Μέσα από μια σειρά δραστηριοτήτων με όχημα το μάθημα των Εικαστικών οι μαθητές ενημερώθηκαν για το θέμα και επικοινώνησαν τα μηνύματά τους μέσα από τη δημιουργία αφίσας, έκθεση των έργων τους στα Σχολεία, δημιουργία βίντεο, επισκέψεις ειδικών ψυχικής υγείας στα Σχολεία. Υλοποιήθηκε βιωματική δραστηριότητα από το δίκτυο μεσόγειος SOS με τίτλο “Crtl Shift save the planet!”

Η ψυχοθεραπευτική προσέγγιση της Εικαστικής Αγωγής στην εκπαιδευτική διαδικασία

Τα οφέλη είναι ορατά στην ψυχική, πνευματική, συναισθηματική και σωματική υγεία των παιδιών. Η Τέχνη είναι ένας από τους πολλούς τρόπους αυτοέκφρασης και ενθάρρυνσης προς ενδοσκόπηση. Κρυμμένες μνήμες των παιδιών μπορεί να ανακληθούν, ενώ μέσα από τη ματιά του ειδικού επιιστήμονα, να αποκαλυφθούν πολλά προσωπικά δεδομένα. Με λεκτικές και μη λεκτικές μορφές έκφρασης , μέσα από ζωγραφιές, ποιήματα, δραματοποίηση – θετρικό παιχνίδι κ.ά. το ίδιο το παιδί αποκαλύπτει και ανακαλύπτει τον εαυτό του, ελευθερώνεται. Η δημιουργική απασχόληση του παιδιού με τα Εικαστικά όταν συνδεθεί με την Συναισθηματική Αγωγή προσφέρει τα μέγιστα:
 Δίνει διέξοδο σε συμπλεγματικές καταστάσεις που προκαλούν αίσθημα ενοχής, ντροπής κ.λ.π.
 Το βοηθά να προσδιορίσει την ταυτότητά του μέσα από τη συναναστροφή και τη σχέση του με τους άλλους.
 Αποκαλύπτοντας κι αναγνωρίζοντας τα συναισθήματά του μαθαίνει να τα χειρίζεται. Παρορμήσεις και αρνητικά συναισθήματα ανιχνεύονται καλλιεργώντας το έδαφος για την οριοθέτηση και τον έλεγχό τους.
 Η κάθαρση συνδέται με αυτή τη διαδικασία. Άλλωστε, όταν κρυμμένα συναισθήματα έρθουν στην επιφάνεια αποκτούν οντότητα, όνομα και όρια γι’ αυτό απομυθοποιούνται και δεν προκαλούν σύγχιση και ταραχή.
 Στοιχεία του χαρακτήρα του αναδεικνύονται, εντοπίζεται η μοναδικότητα και τονώνεται η αυτοπεποίθηση.
 Το παιδί βρίσκει τρόπους να αντιμετωπίσει νέες άγνωστες ψυχολογικές καταστάσεις, να τις κάνει διαχειρίσιμες και λειτουργικές προς όφελός του.
 Η ομαδοσυνεργατική μέθοδος διδασκαλίας θα οφελήσει περισσότερο μέσα από τον διάλογο και τη ερμηνεία των έργων στην ομάδα.
 Καλλιεργείται η ενσυναίσθηση-empathy, πολύ περισσότερο όταν γίνει διάχυση των ατομικών εργασιών στον κύκλο της ομάδας.
 Προετοιμάζεται το έδαφος ώστε ο νέος άνθρωπος να αποδεχθεί τον εαυτό του, να μάθει να μοιράζεται, να ενταχθεί στην ομάδα και κατ’ επέκταση να κονωνικοποιηθεί.

Με όχημα την Εικαστική Αγωγή η πρόληψη βλαπτικών συμπεριφορών είναι δυνατή κι έχει μόνιμο χαρακτήρα.

Children Develop Life Skills through Art Activities

Art may seem like fun and games but the child is actually learning a lot through exploring the arts and doing art activities.

Children gain useful life skills through art.

Why is art important? This is a question many parents ask themselves when they are enrolling their child in school. “Arts education does solve problems. Years of research show that it is closely linked to almost everything that we as a nation say we want for our children and demand from our schools: academic achievement, social and emotional development, civic engagement, and equitable opportunity” (Smith).

It is a proven fact that children involved in art make higher grades than children that are not involved. Exposure to the arts provides many important advantages because it affects the growth and progress of children and benefits children in many learning environments.
Art is important to children in their developmental years because they are able to express themselves.
It also improves their learning process.
Art makes children look forward to learning. Schools that have art programs usually have higher attendance. That is because students get excited about that art class and want to go to school and participate instead of their parents making them go to school.
If there was no art in school, there would be more children dropping out and getting themselves in trouble.
Why is Education of the Arts so Important in High School?
Art is very important in all of our lives because it enhances our understanding to problem solve, boosts our creative thinking and heightens self-expression. It is also considered a form of entertainment, not only for ourselves but for communication with others as well.

eTwinning project: Recycling through art

This project is designed for students from 10 to 16 years old.
The profile of the project is based on active experiential learning. We are going to probe the interdisciplinary and integrated perspective on Environmental Education in relation with Visual Arts Education. Through our project we are going to underline the value of Aesthetic culture on shaping a healthy coexistence of people in the modern environment and create critical thinking personalities.

Pedagogic objectives – Important aims of the project are:
• Environmental sensitization. To motivate children and help them become creative and active on the topic.
• For the students to comprehend the relation of interaction of people and their energies in relation to the environment.
• To learn about ways of protection and improvement of Environmental problems through Recycling.
• The exploitation of Fine Arts Education in the Aesthetic physique through the use of different materials.
• To increase the students imagination and creativity by using different techniques and materials, as well as the freedom of expression.
• To help children get familiarized with foreign languages.
• The growth of dexterities personal and social, through the collaboration and the communication, aiming at the creation of conscience of “active citizens”.
• To create critical thinking personalities, through art education and transformative learning process.

Activities:
• “Introduction το our project”, we are going to use the safe Twin Space platform for exchanging the activities.
• “We present ourselves” – we use mixed techniques.
• “We learn about Recycling”. Children receive knowledge and search for informations about the topic and create educational material.
• “The recycling tree”. We are going to create imaginary sculptures on the shape of a tree and put on our messages.
• “The students organize and present works”, use the project method to learn, about the topic and share knowledge with the others.
• “Art creations and emotions”. It is going to become the bases for the Teachers to apply Emotional Education. Our students are going to use recyclable materials, such as papers, aluminium, plastic bottles, glass, to create dolls and puppets. With those toys we will present theatrical games in classroom.
• “Seasonal creations and ideas”.
• “A game”.
• “Interactive events and exchanging of materials”.

Results:
• We are going to create a TwinSpace open to public and a blog . For our students’ to present their creations: videos, audios, presentations etc.
• Seasonal creations and exchanging of materials through digital form archieves and traditional post.
• We are going to organize exhibitions in our School event Halls and events open to School community and to public. Also, we are going to participate in interactive activities in collaboration with other Schools in national and international level.

The journey started  when Esperanza Caro from Madrid, Spain accepted the invitation of Theodora Chandrinou from Athens, Greece to participate in the “Recycling through Art” project and the main activities as a base. Thanks to our friendship and both Fine Arts Artists and Teachers we designed this project with respect and responsibility.
We invited our colleagues to participate and the project gave fruitful results for the benefits of our students.We worked all together and we managed to get the best out of the children.
We thank all the participants, students and teachers, for the perfect collaboration we had.

Η ενεργή συμμετοχή της  τάξης ΣΤ’1,  αποτελούμενη από 22 μαθητές και μαθήτριες, έδωσε εξαιρετικά αποτελέσματα.

Παιδαγωγική διαδικασία

Τα υποθέματα:

  • Οι Εικαστικές Τέχνες – ταξίδι στην Ιστορία της τέχνης.
  • Γνωριμία με την Χαρακτική Τέχνη μέσα από τις τεχνικές της.
  • Αξιοποίησή της στην ανάπτυξη και διαμόρφωση της προσωπικότητας των παιδιών.
  • Η συναισθηματική νοημοσύνη, συναισθηματική αγωγή και η σπουδαιότητα της Χαρακτικής ως παιδαγωγικό εργαλείο.
  • Συνδυασμός με άλλα γνωστικά αντικείμενα (Ηλ. Υπολογιστές, Μουσική, Γλώσσα).

Παιδαγωγικοί στόχοι

  • Η αισθητική καλλιέργεια και εμπλουτισμός του πλαστικού λεξιλογίου των μαθητών.

Πεδία σύνδεσης με τα προγράμματα σπουδών των αντίστοιχων γνωστικών αντικειμένων

Σύνδεση με την  Γλώσσα, τη Μελέτη Περιβάλλοντος, την Μουσική, τη Θεατρική Αγωγή, το μάθημα των  ηλ. Υπολογιστών. Διεξάγουμε συζητήσεις και συγγράφουμε μικρές ιστορίες .

Καταγράφεται συνοπτικά η χρονική εξέλιξη του προγράμματος κατά τη σχολική χρονιά (20 – 25 δίωρα)

(Η χρονική εξέλιξη του προγράμματος (διερεύνηση θέματος, επεξεργασία, υλοποίηση δράσεων, επισκέψεων, παρουσίαση κ.λ.π.):

1ος μήνας:

  • Διερεύνηση θέματος – ενημέρωση μαθητών.
  • Γνωριμία με την Χαρακτική.
  • Ενεργοποίηση και συλλογή πληροφοριών και δημιουργία αρχείου σε ψηφιακή μορφή –
  • Παρουσίαση πρωτότυπων έργων Χαρακτικής , γραμματόσημα και χαρτονομίσματα.

2ος μήνας:

  • Επίσκεψη σε Μουσείο σε φυσικό χώρο και μέσω διαδικτύου σε αίθουσες Τέχνης – εικονικής ξενάγησης.
  • Βιωματικές δραστηριότητες και συνεργασίες.
  • Χάραξη σε λινόλεουμ, μελάνωμα, τύπωμα, παραγωγή αντιτύπων.

3ος μήνας:

  • Χάραξη σε ξύλο, συνδυασμός τεχνικών.
  • Ζωγραφική και Χαρακτική.
  • Έκθεση με τα έργα των μαθητών στο χώρο του Σχολείου.
  • Επίσκεψη σε εκθεσιακό χώρο.
  • Αξιολόγηση και ενίσχυση δραστηριοτήτων.

4ος μήνας:

  • Δημιουργία  Χαρακτικών έργων  και έκθεσης  στο χώρο του Σχολείου.
  • Δημιουργία αρχείου σε ηλεκτρονική μορφή.
  • Αναρτήσεις στο διαδίκτυο.
  • Συνεργασίες με άλλα Σχολεία της Αθήνας ( 14 Δ. Σχ. Ιλίου και 5 Δ. Σχ. Δάφνης) και με Σχολεία της Ισπανίας – Μαδρίτης (San Jose και Divina Pastora).
  • Ανατροφοδότηση και διάχυση αποτελεσμάτων στην εκπαιδευτική κοινότητα προβολή του συνόλου της μαθητικής δημιουργίας σε χώρους εκτός Σχολείου με επισκέψεις του κοινού .

Το πρόγραμμα αυτό και οι δραστηριότητές του αποτέλεσαν τη βάση για το  Ευρωπαϊκό μας πρόγραμμα.

Εντάχθηκαν στο eTwinning project : The Art of Printmaking as a Pedagogical tool”  και σε συνεργασία με την φίλη και  εκλεκτή συνάδελφο Esperanza Caro  εμπλουτίστηκαν και παρουσιάστηκαν στην Εκπαιδευτική κοινότητα. Συνεργάστηκαν για την ολοκλήρωσή του συνάδελφοι από 4 Σχολεία  της Ελλάδας και 3 από την Ισπανία.

The Art of Printmaking as a pedagogical tool eTwinning project

Congratulations to all the  pupils for the excellent Art work, the cooperation,  interaction and the activites we exchanged!! I wish to thank wholeheartedly  all the paticipating  friends – members Teachers and pupils for the collaboration!!

The Art Teacher Theodora Chandrinou from Greece invited Esperanza Caro from Spain to become the project co-founder and to cooperate in this project.

Theodora Chandrinou (me) proposed – designed the main activities and Esperanza Caro accepted to start the adventure. Together we created twin space pages with more activities and involved our pupils. We exchanged material, emotion, interacted, created great Art work. We used different ICT web 2.0 tools and communicated on line and on site thanks to the twin space educational platform (eTwinning profiles, mail, contacts, chat, forum, events). Also, we cooperated on site,  through open to public  Art Exhibitions and events, in Greece and Spain and by using  traditional post, exchanging material and creations. We used telephone for our direct contact with Spain and all together (Teachers and puils) shared the atmosphere of friendship! We made surveys, every year with the results and presented experiential seminars for Teachers, about the Art of printmaking.

The Art of Prinmaking is an educational tool nd we proved it!

About the project

This project is designed for students from 10 to 12years old.
The profile of the project is based on active experiential learning.
Through our project we will open a path for the students to receive knowledge using innovative practices, applied in classroom.
We wish to reveal the efficient results of the Art of printmaking and its techniques as a pedagogical tool. We believe that it offers the Teachers venerable possibilities, capable to enrich the educational process, in order to enhance the students’ life skills.
Especially, when it is embedded in Primary education it promotes an innovative intervention.

Aims

Important aims of the project are:
• To probe the interdisciplinary and integrated perspective on the education policy.
• The aesthetic values and fine dexterities to be enriched, on using different materials, to be improved.
• A travel to Art History getting knowledge and cultural education.
• Motivation and energetic participation in classroom work, helping children to become more responsible as they will use sharp cutters and materials that require extra careful use.
• To enhance the emotional intelligence of the children, empathy in first place and to gain self-esteem and become self-confident.
• The students to become active and creative, able to take decisions and find solutions.
• To help children to get more experienced in team working and in international group projects.
• To cultivate their personal and social skills through collaboration and communication.
• Get familiarized in the collaboration and communication in art projects through the positive use of differ

Work process

Activities: • “Introduction το our project”, using TwinSpace platform and exchanging activities . • “We present ourselves” – we use mixed techniques.
• “We are part of our world and Art unites us”- our creative hands – imprints.
• “We learn about the Art of printmaking” and search for videos to create our educational material. • “The students organize and present works”, by using the project method. By this way, they are taught and teach the  others, too.
• “Our Art Printmaking gallery”, with favorite Art printmaking works; the students will choose and make a digital presentation.• “The lines tell us” – black and white forms sketches.• “The Printmaking techniques”.• “The tree of friendship”.• “Theater of shadows”.• “Interactive events and exchanging of materials”.• “Evaluation from the children” of our project.• Events, exhibitions and presentations open to public sharing the results of our efforts.
We will be in cooperation with other Schools in Greece and we ‘ll share exhibitions and presentations

Expected results

Impact to the educational community and to society:
• We will create a public TwinSpace and a blog . There we will present the students’ creations that we are planning to make: videos, audios, presentations etc.
• Seasonal creations and cards exchanging using the printmaking techniques .
• We’ll make exhibitions in our School event Halls and we’ll organize events open to public. Also, we’ ll participate in interactive activities in collaboration with other Schools in national and international level.

The journey started thanks to the friendship of Theodora Chandrinou from Greece and Esperanza Caro from Spain. We worked together with loelty from the beginning until the end and that is the reason of the project success.
As the supervisor Fine Arts Teacher from Greece that I had the idea of the project and apply it in classroom since 2005, I testify the value it has in pupils’ personality.
Both, Fine Arts Artists and Teachers we cooperated with respect and responsibility. Together we enriched the project with activities and educational material in order to reach a high quality level.
We invited our colleagues to participate and the project gave fruitful results for  our students’ benefit.
