An innovative eTwinning project took place in the 4th primary School of Zografou, Greece, during the school year 20121-2022 in the framework of the Fine Arts subject lessons, under the supervision of the Art Teacher Theodora Chandrinou. The pupils of grade A had their first international collaborative experience. Furthermore small group of pupils of grade B and C cooperated and became Teachers for one day by helping the other pupils to receive knowledge and to become more active and creative.
About the project
The Project is conceived within the campaign for the promotion-focused on the Annual Theme of Media Literacy and Disinformation when brainstorming the project ideas and it is from here that it was decided to promote learning through Virtual / Augmented Reality and respect for others.
Since the approach is very transversal, it will certainly adapt well to the curricula of primary school children (7-11 years), but also to secondary school students (about 13-14 years) without therefore precluding the possibility of participation to anyone, also because the methodology can be applied at any level with varying degrees of sophistication. This project will undoubtedly give all participants the opportunity to be fully and consciously inserted into everyday life with the contribution of new technologies used even for children to develop their skills related to digital citizenship.
Aims
- To ensure that students develop their educational learning in terms of science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics through various hands-on activities.
- Ensure that all learners participate in inclusive education using problem-solving approaches.
- To put students in a position to learn about Virtual / Augmented Reality and make them participate in an attic and creative way in imaginary worlds with the use of available tools.
- Create new methods of interaction with Virtual / Augmented and Mixed Reality applied to the cultural sphere.
- Acquire the basic skills of 3D creation
- Improve spatial skills by using the space available in the classroom
- To develop reflection skills on the priorities of what is needed in the classroom environment.
Methodology
The pedagogical approach of reference at the base of this project is that of Constructionism, that is, the pedagogical-educational theory developed by Seymour Papert and elaborated starting from Jean Piaget’s theory of learning (Constructivism).
In this theory, learning is seen as a construction and reconstruction of mental representations (instead of a transmission of knowledge). The activity carried out is connected with Project-based Learning – project-based learning, PBL – as a set of practices oriented to the collaborative search for effective and operational solutions with respect to the starting problem to build products together.
Documentation
Documentation of the progress of a project is very important for this it will be necessary to have a well organized layout in the TwinSpace so that all project partners can be clear about the activity plan.
This project will provide students with the opportunity to contribute to the way they perceive their space in the classroom and the surrounding space in general in order to create a differentiated learning environment that meets all their needs. Students will learn more about what they need in a learning environment that they think they know but have never carefully observed, plus they will be guided to distinguish between seeing and looking, therefore, valuing the person beyond things. that surround us.
Results
The Project is conceived within the promotion campaign-focused on the Annual Theme of Media Literacy and Disinformation when brainstorming the project ideas and it is from here that it was decided to encourage learning through Virtual / Augmented Reality and respect for others.
Since the approach is very transversal, it will certainly adapt well to the curricula of primary school children (7-11 years), but also to secondary school students (approximately 13-14 years) without therefore precluding the possibility of participation by anyone, even because the methodology can be applied at any level with varying degrees of sophistication. This project will undoubtedly give all participants the opportunity to be fully and consciously integrated into everyday life with the contribution of new technologies used even by children to develop their skills relating to digital citizenship.
