The national holiday of 25th March
At the lovely land of Greece
the small Greek nation lives
and as history repeatedly says
it is proud, brave and fearless!
Another large nation alas
aggressive and expansive
came and conquered the Greek land
and had it under captive.
This nation, the Turks
brought misery and fears.
Greeks suffered the captivity
over four hundred years.
Once they decided
it couldn’t go longer
expell the Turks from their land
after becoming stronger.
They started a rebellion
with their strength and gun
the Turks of course counterattacked
and so a war began.
This war lasted a lot
with many fights and battles.
It took place on the land
as well as in seabattles.
The Greeks were struggling bravely
the Turks were many more
but they won them gradually
to take what fighting for.
VICTORY came at the end
using vigour and wisdom
the pretty land was theirs again
to live in peace and freedom!!
