Our eTwinning project was an attempt to celebrate Christmas with young learners (5-12 years old) using information and communication technologies (ICT). Our “ICT Christmas” project aimed to achieve young learners’ active participation through tech tools and web 2.0 applications in a funny, interactive and amusing way. Fifteen school teams from five different countries were involved in this collaborative eTwinning project to celebrate Christmas by exchanging ICT material and activities.

Our eTwinning project was designed for 5-11 years old students and its main aim was to celebrate the Children’s Day with schools from Europe and other foreign countries as well by collaborating all together and exchanging digital and audiovisual material in a multicultural, creative and cross-curricular way.

Final words of the great team of “Children’s Day” Project:

Our eTwinning project is an innovative project which was designed for 8-12 years old students and its main aim was to celebrate the Pi day with schools from Europe and other foreign countries as well.

The 14th of March is a day that is celebrated as the “Pi Day” internationally. Through our Pi project we wanted to celebrate the Pi day with other schools all together, on a european as well as an international level, in order to share this experience in English through interactive tasks, collaborative activities, stimulating games and audiovisual material in a multicultural, creative and cross-curricular way.

The fact that mathematics is perceived as a difficult, incomprehensible and/or even unsympathetic lesson for the majority of students requires that teachers should organize the learning process in a different and more amusing way. In order to motivate our students be active and happy learners in mathematics, the celebration of the “Pi Day” was the stimulus to help them learn about both the meaning and the importance of the Pi number in collaboration with foreign students by joining the eTwinning platform and the twinspace.

In our multilingual project, twelve pupils who are learning English in our school and twelve pupils who are learning Spanish in a Turkish school (Istanbul Area) developed our eTwinning collaboration through Web 2.0 technologies in order to create and exchange Christmas wishes and cards in four languages (Greek, Turkish, English, Spanish). Each student had a penfriend from the twin country to exchange personal info and their Christmas cards in pairs by airmail. Our multilingual students prepared and exchanged videos with Christmas songs and Christmas greetings in all four languages and were engaged in various Christmas-based multilingual and interactive activities.

It was a really exciting eTwinning experience:-)
