ΠΑΙΖΟΥΜΕ ΤΡΑΓΟΥΔΩΝΤΑΣ ΚΑΙ ΤΡΑΓΟΥΔΑΜΕ ΠΑΙΖΟΝΤΑΣ
Όταν το τραγούδι συναντά τη μουσική εκτέλεση και το παιχνίδι τότε η μάθηση γίνεται κι αυτή παιχνίδι. Για να το διαπιστώσουμε δεν έχουμε παρά να δούμε το παρακάτω βίντεο .Οι μαθητές του Γ1 παίζουν μεταλλόφωνα , φλογέρες και βέβαια τραγουδούν. Ας τους απολαύσουμε!
April days
April Fool’s Day
April Fool’s Day started in France in 1564. The king of France changed New Year’s Day From April 1st to January 1st, but some people continued to celebrate the beginning of the year on April 1st. So, the rest of the people played jokes on them and fooled them with lies. January was finally the winner, but this strange custom travelled to other countries as well and people called it ‘April Fool’s Day’. We still keep this custom alive and on April 1st each year we fool each other with lies and jokes.

Easter
The feast of the feasts
Easter is a big event in the Christian calendar anywhere in the world-but for the Greek Orthodox Church it is the biggest of the year; more important even than Christmas. In the old days on Symi, the exquisite Greek island, on Easter Sunday-the day of Resurrection-at ten o’clock in the morning the worshippers used to raise a banner that depicted the body of Christ rising. At that moment, all the men on the island fired their guns into the sky and, an hour later, the castle’s cannon fired as a signal for everyone to go to church.
Μπεζεστένι=BEZESTENI
Με αφορμή το πρόγραμμα που έχουν αναλάβει φέτος οι τάξεις ΣΤ’ και Δ’, ένα άρθρο για το Μπεζεστένι της πόλης μας, που είχα γράψει παλιά και μοιραστήκαμε με τα παιδιά, ήρθε η ώρα να πάρει μορφή ηλεκτρονική και να το χαρούμε γι άλλη μια φορά όλοι μαζί! Έτοιμοι για μια βουτιά στα Αγγλικά; Η ιστορία ξεκινά:
Bezesteni is a closed and roofed market. The word ‘bezesteni’ derives from the Persian word ‘bez’ which means ‘cotton’ or ‘linen cloth’ – ‘bezzaz’ is the draper(=cloth trader). So, the original meaning of Bezesteni was the Cloth Market.
The Bezesteni of Larissa
Where is it? When was it built? How is it today? It is situated on the hill which is beyond the banks of the Peneus river , where the Acropolis of Larissa was in ancient times and the place where the ‘Frurio’ is today.
During the Middle Ages, the Byzantine city was at the same place where there was the church of Saint Achillios, the patron saint of Larissa. That place was the shopping center of the city during the Turkish domination.
The Bezesteni was built on the 15th century. On the 19th century, it stopped being a market and it started to be destroyed. Today we can see parts of its outer walls and the place inside is used as a storeroom of objects from the Byzantine period.

Απρίλης! Κι ενώ, από παλιά, τον έχουμε συνδέσει με την αγαπημένη μας Πρωταπριλιά-αργότερα, και κάθε 2 του μήνα, θυμόμαστε ότι είναι η μέρα που γεννήθηκε ο Χανς Κρίστιαν Άντερσεν και, μ’ αυτή την αφορμή, διαβάζουμε κάποιο βιβλίο επιπλέον… από πέρυσι ξανά, για μένα, ο Απρίλης συνδέεται με τις κατασκηνώσεις εθελοντικής εργασίας, που γίνονται κυρίως το καλοκαίρι, αλλά την αίτηση συμμετοχής τη συμπληρώνεις τώρα- τον Απρίλη.
Οι μαθητές μας θα πρέπει να κάνουν υπομονή- να φτάσουν 18 χρονών- πρώτα για να γευτούν αυτή την εμπειρία ζωής! Θα’ θελα να το θυμηθούν και να το ζήσουν! Προσφορά εργασίας χωρίς ανταμοιβή … υλική, αλλά γεμίζει η ψυχή!
Διαλέγεις μια χώρα του κόσμου ή τη χώρα μας, κάνεις οικονομία για να βγάλεις τα χρήματα του ταξιδιού και κάποιο χαρτζιλίκι, κι όλα τ’ άλλα κανονισμένα. Την καλή σου διάθεση μην ξεχάσεις πίσω και θα επιστρέψεις διπλά και τριπλά χαρούμενος/η!!! SCIκαι ELIX οι οργανισμοί μέσω των οποίων έχω πάει. Το Αζερμπαϊτζάν η χώρα που πρόσφερα εργασία τελευταία. Με παιδιά ήμουνα, που δυσκολευόντουσαν να εκφραστούν στα Αγγλικά, γι αυτό απ την αρχή της σχολικής χρονιάς φέτος, λέω πόσο σημαντικό είναι να διαβάζεις Αγγλικά, η γλώσσα που μπορείς να επικοινωνήσεις και να γνωρίσεις άλλος ανθρώπους και πολιτισμούς ακόμα πιο καλά!

Από τις πλατείες του Λονδίνου να …αλωνίζουν στην τάξη του Δ1 πρωί-πρωί! Και για αποφυγή κάθε παρερμηνείας και τυχόν αγωνίας, μιλάμε για τις γάτες του T. S. Eliot, απόσπασμα στο βιβλίο της Γλώσσας, παρμένο από το βιβλίο του νομπελίστα ποιητή με τίτλο: ‘Το Εγχειρίδιο Πρακτικής Γατικής του Γερο-Πόσουμ’ ( OldPossum’sBookofPracticalCats )- το οποίο έχει γνωρίσει μεγαλύτερη δημοσιότητα εφόσον έδωσε το λιμπρέτο του περίφημου μιούζικαλ για χρόνια σε Λονδίνο και Νέα Υόρκη:‘CATS’.
Μου ζήτησαν τα παιδιά να το μεταφράσω , αλλά επειδή είναι ήδη μεταφρασμένο το βιβλίο από ΠΑΥΛΙΝΑ ΠΑΜΠΟΥΔΗ, ΓΙΑΝΝΗ ΖΕΡΒΑ , εκδόσεις ΑΓΡΑ, διαλέγω εδώ να τους αφιερώσω ένα άλλο απόσπασμα που μ’ άρεσε , το ‘Τραγούδι για τις Γουργουρίτσες’ ( THESongoftheJellicles) : ‘ JellicleCatscomeoutto-night, JellicleCatscomeonecomeall: TheJellicleMoonisshiningbright- JelliclescometotheJellicleBall.

Days of March we…passed by!
Μέρες του Μάρτη που … προσπεράσαμε!
Θα ‘αγγίξω’ απλά τις παρακάτω ξεχωριστές μέρες του Μάρτη που σχετίζονται με το μάθημα των Αγγλικών και όχι μόνο! 16th-22nd March: Shakespeare Week for the English people
William Shakespeare was an English playwright and poet, widely regarded as one of the greatest ever English writers. Some of Shakespeare’s better known plays include ‘Romeo and Juliet’, ‘Hamlet’ and ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’.
William Shakespeare was born in Stratford-Upon-Avon in 1564 and moved to London to become an actor at age 21. He wrote comedies and histories before moving to tragedies as he grew old. In 1599, along with some fellow actors, he built a theatre on the South Bank of the River Thames which he named ‘The Globe’.
It was there that many of his plays were performed. In Tudor England, it is thought that Queen Elizabeth I was a fan of his plays.
Fun fact: WilliamShakespeare was the only member of his family that could read or write!
One of his sayings: ‘A fool thinks himself to be wise, but a wise man knows himself to be a fool.’
Μάρτιος και Dr Seuss !!!
“Ανακάλυψα” τον Dr Seuss πριν πέντε μέρες , στις 2 Μαρτίου, μέρα αφιερωμένη σε κείνον με αφορμή την ημέρα των γεννεθλίων του-αν ζούσε σήμερα, στις 2 Μαρτίου 2015 θα γιόρταζε τα 111α του γεννέθλια! Μοιράστηκα την “ανακάλυψη” με τους μαθητές της Ε’ τάξης. Η χαρά μου μεγάλη όταν δύο-τρεις απ’ αυτούς ήξεραν ήδη έναν από τους ήρωες των βιβλίων του που έγινε και ταινία, τον Λόραξ, ‘The Lorax’! Γράφω σήμερα για να συστήσω σε παιδιά και γονείς να επισκεφτούν το site:www.seussville.com για να γνωρίσουν καλύτερα τον συγγραφέα μέσα απ’ τις σελίδες του site, να εμπνευστούν, να δράσουν και να διασκεδάσουν με τα παιχνίδια και δραστηριότητες(games and activities) και όχι μόνο! 1st March and with my wishes for a good month to our pupils with a game-taken from this year Russian book, I would like to suggest they should get to know more about Dr Seuss’s Day celebrated tomorrow, 2nd March or read some more books these days, as it’s the World Book Day on 5th March! And that’s only the beginning because March is full of Special Days!!
The game: ‘The Last Hero’
You are in an island. There’s no way to run. You must talk about yourself, your day, your family, about what you love and don’t love, how you rest in your free time, what you want to do, which countries you went to and what you did there, why you learn English or some other foreign language/s. Each of you in turn says one phrase about yourself. When somebody can’t say anything, he/she goes out of the game and a crocodile eats him/her. The one who said most is the winner, he/she is ‘The Last Hero’! He/ She becomes the leader of the race!!!

And that they are tiny, just like kids, they have a white or orange beard, long, hooked noses and pointed ears.They wear a green uniform and well-made shoes which they end themselves. They need them to dance throughout the night with elves and fairies. They mend shoes for them, as well. They are the shoe makers of the forest….
Every leprechaun owns an earthen pot of gold coins buried at the edge of the rainbow. And, if it is ever caught, it has to show you where its treasure is. Stories and stories narrate about woodcutters and hunters who managed to catch leprechauns…… |
……Τι ήξερα για τα λέπρεκον; Ότι ζουν στα δάση της Ιρλανδίας. Και ότι είναι μικροκαμωμένα, σαν μικρά παιδιά, έχουν άσπρη ή πορτοκαλί γενειάδα, μεγάλες, γαμψές μύτες και μυτερά αυτιά.Φορούν πράσινη φορεσιά και καλοφτιαγμένα παπούτσια, που τα μαστορεύουν μόνα τους. Κάθε λέπρεκον κατέχει ένα τσουβάλι χρυσά νομίσματα θαμμένο στην άκρη του ουράνιου τόξου. Κι αν ποτέ πιαστεί, θα πρέπει να σου δείξει που βρίσκεται ο θησαυρός του! Ιστορίες λένε για ξυλοκόπους και κυνηγούς που κατάφεραν να πιάσουν λέπρεκον…… |
Groundhog Day is a holiday celebrated on February 2nd in the United States and Canada. According to the folklore, if it is cloudy when a groundhog goes out of its burrow on this day, it will leave the burrow which means that winter will soon end. If it is sunny, the groundhog will supposedly ‘see its shadow’ and go back to its burrow, and the winter will continue for six more weeks.
The holiday began as a Pennsylvania German custom in the 18th and 19th centuries. It bears some similarities to the medieval Catholic holiday of ‘Candlemas’. Candlemas(candle mass), the feast of the Presentation of Jesus at the Temple= ‘Hypapante’(a Greek word= ‘meeting’). It happens 40 days after Christmas where a priest on February 2nd blessed beeswax candles for use throughout the year.
Το «Πλέξε την πόλη» είναι μια ομάδα καλλιτεχνών δρόμου που ιδρύθηκε το 2009 στο Λονδίνο, Αγγλία και κάνουν ένα είδος γκράφιτι, όχι με χρώμα ή κιμωλία, αλλά με νήμα πλέκοντας με βελόνες ή βελονάκι.
«Πλεκτό γκράφιτι», «νίφιτι», «βομβαρδισμός με νήμα», νηματοκαταιγίδα» είναι κάποια από τα ονόματα γι αυτό το νέο είδος γκράφιτι, που πιστεύεται ότι έχει τις ρίζες του στο Τέξας , ΗΠΑ, όταν κάποιοι που έπλεκαν, σκέφτηκαν αυτόν τον δημιουργικό τρόπο για να χρησιμοποιήσουν τα νήματα που τους είχαν απομείνει από διάφορα πλεκτά τους-από τότε εξαπλώθηκε παντού στον κόσμο.
‘Knit the city’
‘Knit the city’ is a group of ‘graffiti knitting and crochet’ street artists founded in London, England in 2009. They don’t use colour or chalk, but yarn.
‘Knit graffiti’, ‘kniffiti’, yarn bombing’, ‘yarnstorming’ are some of the names for the new type of graffiti, which is believed to have originated in the Texas, USA, when some knitters found this creative way to use the leftover of some knitting works of theirs-it has since spread worldwide.
A useless piece of information: ’amigurumi’ is the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting stuffed animals!
