Μια πρώτη, σύντομη εισαγωγή στη χρήση των δύο χρόνων στα Αγγλικά.

Χρήση του Past Simple
a. Για πράξεις που έγιναν στο παρελθόν σε συγκεκριμένο χρόνο. e.g. I saw Mary yesterday.
b. Όταν ρωτάμε πότε έγινε κάτι.    e.g. When did you see Tom?
c. Για διαδοχικές πράξεις του παρελθόντος.   e.g. He got up, washed his face, had breakfast and went out.

Χρήση του Past Continuous
a. Για να περιγράψει πράξεις που συνεχίζονταν στο παρελθόν για κάποιο χρονικό διάστημα.    e.g. He was playing football from 5-7 yesterday.
b. Μαζί με τον Simple Past, όταν μια πράξη που γινόταν στο παρελθόν διακόπηκε από μία άλλη πράξη.     e.g. Steve was sleeping when the phone rang.
c. Για πράξεις που γινότανε ταυτόχρονα στο παρελθόν.     e.g. Jim was cooking while Mary was watching TV.
d. Για περιγραφές στο παρελθόν.      e.g. She was wearing a red shirt and a white coat…

1. Read the following recipe.
2. Write down and try to guess the meaning of any words that you don’t know.
3. Use your dictionary if it’s too difficult for you to understand the meaning of a word.

Fruit Salad

Ingredients:

1 orange

1 grapefruit

1 banana

1 kiwi

1 pear

1 apple

10 strawberries

10 blueberries

1 cup red grapes

1/2 cup walnuts(chopped)

1 cup plain yoghurt

Preparation:

Wash and peel the fruit.

Remove the core or pit.

Cut the fruit into small pieces.

Toss the fruit in a large bowl and mix them carefully.

Add the walnuts.

Add the yoghurt.

Mix again.

Chill before serving.
