Football is the most popular sport for children in Greece. Most children, boys and girls between the ages of 8-12 prefer football to any other sport, especially when it comes to ‘what they would like to play at school’or “what they would like to be taught by the P.E. teacher” . A survey conducted among 200 pupils in 2nd primary Nea Smyrni school Athens points out that basketball and volleyball come next.
Swimming and other water sports, like water polo, follow, while riding a bike in the town seems to be quite popular,too.
