2. Tasks

The first three activities of the project are common for all groups.

1. First, you are going to form groups of four, according to the “puzzle” task your teacher is going to assign to you.

Activities in inclusive classrooms often require collaboration, teaming, and interaction. Students often are asked to work in pairs or small groups, but typical methods for grouping learners can lead to groans and complaints because students often want to work with their friends. To avoid protests, try making group formation into a game. By creating small jigsaw puzzles, students of any age can learn something new while finding their teammates in a fun, low-risk, and even humorous way.

2. Second, you are going to discuss who you are as an individual and as a group. In order to do this you may use a “Mandala”.

Mandala is a circle that consists of the ‘manda’, the essence and the ‘container’ which is what contains the essence or the sphere of essence. They are symmetric figures that help maintain the meditation and concentration stage. They can be used as a game, as a technique, even as a diagnostic system of feelings and emotions.

It is a specially designed artifact, that presents all the attributes of each person in the group and the group as a whole. You will find a “Mandala” framework here. In the centre of the Mandala give a name to your group, in the first circle write your own name, in the second circle write a feature of your character you especially like or don’t like, for example, shy, or, happy, or determined, etc. In the fourth circle write what you will offer to the group as a person, for example, work, or cooperation, or knowledge, etc, and in the fifth circle write what you expect from the group, for example, respect, or collaboration, or understanding, etc.

3. Third, you are going to work as a group in order to win the “Marshmallow Challenge“.

It is an activity that teaches collaboration, decision making and taking the initiative. The group that builds the tallest Marshmallow Tower will start the journey by choosing the topic it appeals most to them from a list of topics the teacher is going to administer at the end of the activity. Here is the information about the “Marshmallow Challenge”. The Marshmallow Challenge is a remarkably fun and instructive design exercise that encourages teams to experience simple but profound lessons in collaboration, innovation and creativity.

Finally, each group will find information about the topics assigned to them at the task page, by choosing the subpage with the name of your group.

Good luck and have a nice journey into your inner self!
