TIPS FOR DELEGATES

 

First make sure that you read the agenda and the daily programme in hmuno site.

 

Then go to Delegates section and find the links resolution guide where you are given a sample of a resolution and the next link to study carefully is rules of procedure where you can see a sample of 1min opening speech for those of you that you will speak for New Zealand and Bosnia-Herzegovina(Ambassadors).

 

Open up the links on GENERAL ASSEMBLY AND ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL COUNCIL according to what committees you have been allocated.

 

It is highly advisable to do a research on the country you represent so as to know the basics. For example New Zealand belongs to the group of Oceania and Bosnia-Herzegovina is related to the Balkans. This will prove useful as to determine your allies.

When you prepare your resolution don’t go crazy and try and include everything. Just focus on 1 or 2 points. For example on Information and Technology on cyber-security and the protection of personal data you can refer to hacking or net-bullying. On Human Rights you can refer to the arrest of Neo-Nazis in Germany after the killing of immigrants (a Greek among them). On Economic and Social Development you can refer to the use of fertilizers to enhance crop productivity and horse meat mixed with beef.

 

I will try and forward you any resolutions that I receive but first I should have your permission to do so.

 

Remember the most important concept behind this simulation model is to stay open-minded, take the risk to be exposed to something totally new and see how you cope. Nobody asks you to be perfect and never make a mistake. Show and develop your flexibility and adjustment skills is what you should be looking forward to.
