Queen for a Day

Mother’s Day is a holiday celebrated on the second Sunday in May. It is a day when children honour their mothers with cards, gifts, and flowers. Although it wasn’t celebrated in the U.S. until 1908, there were days honoring mothers even in the days of ancient Greece. In those days, however, it was Rhea, the Mother of the gods that was given honor. Most classroom teachers are sure to help their students honor their mothers on this special day! And I was pleased to see some inspiring crafts in the schools I teach. I could not resist helping students honour their mums in english too with a card and message.

Roses are red

Violets are blue

Sugar is sweet

And so are you

Let’s not forget those fathers out there in about a month. Father’s day is June 19 and just before we break up for Summer we should honour them too.
