1st Students camp in Estonia

EU_flag-Erasmus_vect_POS

From 23 to 27 May, children and teachers had the pleasure to participate in the first students camp that was part of the Learn and share! program (Erasmus + KA2 action) in which our school is a partner. Children kept diaries in which they wrote their thoughts, activities and feelings. We felt that the presentation of this unique experience needed to be done from their side, so everything following it through their own eyes ….

1st day

The first day in the camp was fantastic. We played several games and did many activities. We started with a game from Turkey. I won a  girl from Finland, but she didn’t mind. The food is a little strange, but good. The afternoon we split into groups and we made too many activities. The finest was the balance and that I helped Isla, a girl from Turkey, to make a path with closed eyes. When she finished, she hugged me and I felt great. I am pleased that I am with my friends but I also like the fact that I make new ones. I look forward to tomorrow.

2nd day

Today was our second day in Estonia and everything was great. We played many games and my team came first. I managed with English and even when we did not know how to say something, we found a way to communicate. We went to Lihula and had to discover different parts of the city through a game on tablets. Children from Estonia helped us a lot!!!

In the afternoon we gathered everyone on the basketball court and learned traditional dances. Everybody danced, teachers and children. We had a great time! We showed him the slow Cretan dance, but when it got fast, everybody laughed and had fun.

We stay in very nice homes. There is one for girls and one for boys. Our teacher is responsible for ours and last night some girls gathered and we met, we laughed and we also exchanged delicacies. This week will be the best! I never thought it would be so nice. I waited this for months. I thought the time would never come, but finally I’m in Estonia!

3rd day

Today the day was just as good as the previous ones, but with some differences. That is, we woke up in the morning, we made our morning exercise, as usual, we ate breakfast and had lessons with teachers from Estonia. They had prepared a qr coding game. They had hidden codes in the camp, we photographed them and questions or activities showed up on our tablets. We did very well with Giannis.

In the afternoon we went to Haapsalu. We went to the town and we explored it by using our  tablets and the loquiz game. Our walk was perfect and we also had a fantastic ice cream. After that, we went to Nova, a forest by the sea. Mr. Alexander and us wore devices on our fingers and went orienteering in the forest. We ran very much, but it was great! Now we are back to the camp. We ate, we had a shower and we are ready for sleep. I liked all the things we did today and, hopefully, tomorrow will be another fantastic day.

4th day

Today It was too nice! We played, laughed and enjoyed ourselves during our session with the Finnish teachers. We made various letters and shapes with materials from nature or with our bodies. In the afternoon we went to the Estonian school and it was fantastic. They haven’t got a yard or railings or fencing. Their courtyard is the forest, their games are in the grass and they are made of logs. We played with them and had a wonderful time.

We are having a good time with all the children. On the bus we are talking and saying words in our language and learn from the languages of others. Girls from Turkey sing beautifully, but we do our best too!!! Tonight an instructor came and helped us do climbing. I got halfway and I’m very happy. The finest part is after the dinner snack. Each night the teachers from Finland and our teacher start volleyball matches. We gather and we make large groups of 8 or 9 people. It’s a huge mess, but we have the time of our lives!!! We play until 10 or 10:30 because it is still day. I would really Iike to know, how our teachers never get tired?

5th day

Today we woke up, we did gymnastics with Mr. Alexander and games with Mrs. Maria. We ate breakfast. They had some fishes, but I didn’t taste them. After breakfast, we had a session with the Spanish teachers. We painted like Picasso. After lunch, we went to the national park of Matsalu and we saw a video and several photos with animals. He also had many stuffed ones. After that we climbed a tower, 21 meters high, and saw the incredible view.

When we returned we had the final celebration. We danced, we sang, we exchanged gifts. We gave the bracelets that we had made for all the children and we also gave the teachers some olive oil, honey and raki. We also gifted a cook book with greek recipes. Maybe they will like to try some of them. In the end we got our certificates and lit the barbeque. Everything was perfect! Unfortunately in the morning we have to leave early, because our plane leaves early too. We will have company from our Spanish friends, but I must greet all the rest. Next year I’ll be in high school and I will not see them in Finland.

Today is the last day and I am very sad. I do not know how the days passed so quickly. You expect something all year and when it comes, it ends immediately. I will never forget what I experienced, what I did, what I felt.  Foteini

I had a great day today, but the end has come. I will communicate with my new friends. Maybe they’ll come to Crete or maybe I’ll visit them. I’ll miss them all very much but I’m so lucky that I ‘ve met them! Katerina
